Following YM's 0-12 win at Colchester last month and last week’s 0-34 victory away to Bury, we were hosting Mersea Island today for game three of the four-game round robin cup. And very aware a victory would put YM in a strong position for the final round.

It took ten minutes for Ollie to get himself onto the scoresheet and repeated the feat fifteen minutes later. Being dabbed down wide on the wing, Tom converting just one of them was good kicking.

In the second half all of YM’s tries came in the final ten minutes of play. Levi was the first to score followed by two from Harry. Tom converted two. YM’s final try was a roller-coaster. Mersea were pressing for a consolation try by patiently and expertly applying pressure at the far corner only feet away from the touchline. YM turned the ball over at a ruck and elected to pass the ball across our own try line until it got to Harry on the other side of the pitch. Harry then sprinted the whole length of the pitch to dab down under Mersea’s posts.

Overall another good day for the YM who are strongly placed going into the final game of the Cup vs Woodbridge next week.
