Southwold in the pouring rain
By John Reynolds
It was wet folks
Hope you’re all well and have dried out. Last week was very interesting at Southwold and we were very competitive against a very good, small Southwold squad.
We mixed our teams up at Southwold's request and split out the teams as so
We then played two mixed Southwold teams in rotation. Kajeai's team lost 4-0 and 1-0. Callum's team won 3-2 and 3-0.
We then picked an A team based on the day which was
Kajeai - Excellent rucking and really starting to offload at the right time. Well done.
Callum - Played full back and was excellent. The freedom suits you.
Victor - Excellent. Bloodied and battered, you gave it everything.
Archie - Much better. We will be winding you up and demanding aggression going forward. You're a different player when so.
Dom - You arrived at Southwold lad! You are a wrecking ball.
Harris - Really solid tackling and running. Very dependable.
Seth - You did very well at scrum half. Listened and executed which was great.
Owen - You did very well all morning. Some great steals and lovely tries.
Harry - Good work at the breakdown. Keep believing in yourself.
Given they are regional Prima Cup Finalists we will take the 0-0. We had chances to nick it at the death but so did they. Some great defending by both sides. Loved the huddle our boys got into of their own making when they had a man down towards the end. You couldn't tell what colour our kit was when it was over!
The Dev team was made up of
Noah - You ran the game lad. Talked and positioned everyone and also made a lot of tackles.
Joe - You tackled everything that moved. Excellent.
Aston - Not fully fit but made some devastating runs.
Bill - Some really great tackles, very solid.
Thomas B - Some great running. A lovely try.
Fin Collins - Great running. Lovely try.
Will - Very solid, good rucking and a lovely instinctive roll for your try.
Toby - Some very good running and a nice try.
We stuffed their Dev team 6-0. Great performance.
Handling given the weather was good. Opposition teams often still rely on one main runner and we will be working on this in the coming weeks.
We still across the board need to get into the opposition’s faces more. We are increasingly aggressive but need to match this with being decisive too.
Well played all and thanks to all the parents that braved the weather and roared the boys on. We are YM!
