Ipswich YM Mini Tournament Results - Plate wins for A and Development
By John Reynolds
A and Development Squads both come third
Despite the problem with parking that saw us have to postpone our Ipswich YM Festival, it morphed into a mini tournament last weekend and saw us welcome sides from Bury, Sudbury and Wymondham to play in A and Development pools at short notice. We'd like to publicly thank those clubs again for entering into the spirit of what was a difficult situation for us and making it such a great day.
Our festival proper will now go ahead on the 8th March 2015.
A squad started slowly again with a 3-1 reverse to Wymondham in a game that the boys felt they could and should have won. Key areas of play such as the ruck and the usage of width having sucked their defensive line inside were not executed properly and we paid the ultimate price. The second game saw us draw 3 -3 with Sudbury and having again gone behind we got back into this one and could have won it at the death but for a poor decision in terms of options that saw us taken into touch and the game finish all square. Our final game saw us beat Bury 5-0 in what was our most complete performance of the afternoon. The Plate Final was a walk over in the end as Bury went home due to their players feeling the cold. So well done boys but again much to build on with the festivals later in the season in mind. Sudbury beat Wymondham 3-0 in the Cup Final.

Development squad started with a 2-1 win over Wymondham and played some good attacking rugby whilst defending resolutely. Our second game saw an 8-4 reverse against a strong Sudbury side but we were again pleased with individual contributions and the try count is beginning to build. We still need to accept and demand of each other that everybody has a responsibility to tackle and that it isn't something that some of us don't need to do. The final game saw us lose 5-2 to another strong Bury side but once again there is progress and the boys are coming on as a group. In the plate final we beat Wymondham 6-3 and Bury beat Sudbury in the Cup Final.

Thank you to all our parents that helped out on the day with duties, you were brilliant.
