Injuries are hitting YM's 2nd team very hard this season

Like many clubs, YM's bottom tier side are struggling to field a full team when they have to cover for injuries in the first team as well as injuries in their own team.

It was always going to be a tough game with YM only managing to put out a side of 14 men but the opening 15 minutes was evenly balanced with Alex Wold scoring in response to Colchester's opening try.

However, Colchester had worked out where YM's defence was being stretched and despite the efforts of the YM drift defence, they were able run in a number of tries.

Unfortunately YM were further impacted with injuries to Liam Lacey and Johnny Godzicz but Colchester were gracious and lent one of their players so that YM could continue with 13 men.

There was still fight left in YM though and around the 60 minute mark Nat Dowsett went over to ensure that YM weren't "Nilled" in either half.

Late in the game, Marvin Plummer had to go off with a ripped ear but gallantly came back on to keep up the sterling work that the forwards were doing in the centre of the park, forcing Colchester to attack down the wings.

A hard game and a scoreline that doesn't fully tell the story of how much effort the YM players put in.
Although it was a loss, YM should be proud that they put out a side which meant that they didn't forfeit the match and Colchester could have a game.
