Encouraged by their determined performance against strong Harwich team last week, YM were keen to get back on the field to build on that win.
However, Felixstowe controlled the game from the start and denied YM of any meaningful possession in the opening 15 minutes and soon went 5-0 up.
YM slowly got themselves back in the game and leveled the scores only for Felixstowe to take the lead again with a converted try to make the score 12-5.
Towards the end of the first half, YM finally started to play better rugby and had their best period of the match. YM scored a converted try to make the score 12 all at half time.
Unfortunately the bright period at the end of the first half didn't continue in the second half and YM found themselves two scores down at 24-12.
YM's spirit hadn't been dampened however and they did pull a score back in the final 15 minutes to make the score 24-17.
In the closing period of the game YM put some good moves together with one notable interchange at pace down the right hand flank.
It was all too late however and whilst the final score of 24-17 was disappointing, it was a fair reflection of the game.
It wasn't all bad though as YM's efforts in periods of the game were rewarded by a losing bonus point which means that they didn't come away from Felixstowe totally empty handed.
Further positives to take out of the game were that it did highlight where there is still work to be done in training and the areas of fitness that need to concentrated on.
